Lisa Williams serves Northwestern Media as Network Talent Coach. Northwestern Media is a ministry of the University of Northwestern St. Paul. Lisa coaches on-air radio talent in Christian radio, is an on-air fundraiser, and serves as a station voice on several radio stations. Lisa and her sons JD & Jesse live in Denver.

Eugene and Elouise had a surprise baby in 1968. Daddy was a solid-as-a-rock railroad man in his 50s who loved reading the Bible. Momma was a whirlwind of a Louisiana woman in her 40s, whose comic timing was unparalleled. I experienced laughter, love, and lots of good food growing up in Benton, Louisiana.

While sitting in the youth choir at Broadmoor Baptist Church in April 1985, Jesus became the Lord of my life. A few weeks later, God clearly called me to full-time ministry. In 1986, I moved to Arkansas to study music at Ouachita Baptist University. At the end of my freshman year, I married and moved to Germany in 1987 for my husband’s first Army assignment. In Germany, while praying and seeking God with all my heart, He very clearly called me to Christian radio.

In 1990, we were stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, and that’s where my radio life began. From July 1990 to August 1995, I hosted the afternoon show on KCVO at the Lake of the Ozarks. My passion for Jesus, people, humor, art, acting, serving, and all things techie merged into a crazy, deep love for the art and ministry of Christian radio.

In September 1995, we moved to Pella, Iowa, where I helped launch KCWN.

In June 1996, we moved to Durham, North Carolina, and then in early 1997, to Lakeland, Florida. During those years, I did fill-in work and helped with fundraising for WRTP and WJIS.

In March 1998, I joined the Z88.3 morning show where I served until January 2002 when I left to help launch Star 99.1 in New Jersey. In April 2002, I returned to Z88.3 in Orlando to host the afternoon show.

In 2004, I hosted The Weekend Top 20 Countdown on stations across America.

When my husband’s work moved us to Sacramento, California, in November 2006, I stayed on-air in Orlando with Z88.3 remotely until February 2007 when our first son was born.

Then in August 2007, I joined K-LOVE to host their national afternoon show. Our second son was born in June 2008. And then in March 2009, I transitioned to the K-LOVE morning show. In November 2009 we moved the show from Sacramento to Indianapolis.

At the end of July 2011, I stepped down from K-LOVE to focus my life on being the mom of JD and Jesse. We moved to Denver in September 2011 to serve in children’s ministry.

2012: I hosted weekend evenings from my home in Denver for my friends at Z88.3 in Orlando.  In June, I began coaching the morning show at WBGL. And I had the privilege of helping the great team at i58:10 Media raise money for important radio stations, international missions, or local rescue missions throughout America, working with some amazing radio professionals on KXOJ (Tulsa, OK), Mix 106.5 (Baltimore, MD), Spirit 105.9 (Austin, TX), Hope 107.9 (Albany, OR), Praise 106.5 (Lynden, WA), Q98.5 (Rockford, IL), 103.9 The Fish (Sacramento, CA), 102.1 WDRM (Huntsville, AL), and Star 93.5 (Jackson, MS).

2013: Z88.3 continued to let me play music Saturday and Sunday evenings in Orlando, and I was honored to help with their fundraisers as well as some fill-in work. In June, I joined Praise 106.5 to host their midday show (from my home in Denver). Praise covers NW Washington and Vancouver, Canada. Coaching radio shows filled much of my time in 2013, coaching seven different Christian shows. And I was thankful to help i58:10 Media’s team with important fundraising events in Cleveland, OH; Albany, OR; Lynden, WA; Seattle, WA; Osakis, MN; Boise, ID; Rockford, IL; and Huntsville, AL.

2014: For the first half of 2014, I continued coaching nine radio shows, hosting mid-days on Praise 106.5 and weekend evenings on Z88.3, and traveling for i58:10 Media all around the country helping ministries raise money on radio. In July, I turned all my work energy toward serving at i58:10 Media full-time to focus on connecting people in America with important works of God all around the world. Altogether in 2014, I was able to travel to amazing radio stations almost 20 times to help raise money. In November, I stepped down from i58:10 Media so I could wait on God with all my heart.

2018: A year filled with creating radio and coaching air talent. I became a single mom, working from home and homeschooling my precious boys.

2019: The radio show, lots of coaching, helping launch Worship 24/7, and fundraising and speaking on the Radio/Road School Fall Tour 2019 took my sons and me to 11 events in 12 weeks.  All in all, 2019 was a year of healing and growth.

2020: In September, Northwestern Media invited me to join their team as their Network Talent Coach. I had the privilege of serving stations in ChampaignDes MoinesDuluthFargoKansas CityMadisonMinneapolisOmahaPeoriaSioux Falls, and Waterloo.

2021: Living in Denver, raising my boys, serving God through Christian radio, playing on improv stages every chance I get. Healing and growing. I had my first full year as the Network Talent Coach at Northwestern Media and I LOVE MY JOB! Serving 90+ on-air talent through Northwestern and other CCM stations. Lots of soul work and radio growth. Fundraising throughout America over 50 days in 2021. Biggest breakthrough: learning to trust God with my kids.

2022: Word of the year: Softer. Softer means easy to mold, not hard, not sharp, sympathetic, compassionate. Gentle and humble. Slower. Present with myself and others. Safe for myself and others.

Jeremiah 29:11-13  “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.
